Montserrat

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

Font Details

The Montserrat typeface was born from the urban typography of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Inspired by the old posters and signs found in the traditional Montserrat neighborhood, designer Julieta Ulanovsky sought to preserve the visual beauty of twentieth-century lettering before it disappeared under modern city development. Every curve and proportion in this font reflects the craft, care, and color of the streets that inspired it — a tribute to the character of real, handmade signage.

Released under the SIL Open Font License, Montserrat was created as a free and open project to keep that urban heritage alive. The family includes several styles such as Regular, Alternates, and Subrayada, offering creative flexibility for designers and typographers. Today, Montserrat continues to represent the timeless spirit of Buenos Aires — elegant, lively, and unmistakably human.
