Rosemary is an elegant display serif by Stringlabs, built to look crisp and confident once it has enough room to breathe. It performs best in medium-to-large sizes: the letterforms hold their character cleanly around 24 pt+ in print and 28–32 px+ on screen, where the counters stay open and the serif shapes read as intentional detail rather than texture.
Its readability is strongest in titles, names, and short phrases. The design leans on sturdy stems, soft bracketing, and generous counters, so words stay recognizable even with expressive curves—especially in Title Case and ALL CAPS. At very small sizes, the heavier strokes and serif detail can visually “fill in,” so it’s less suited for dense UI text or long paragraphs without careful sizing.
Spacing feels balanced and slightly airy, giving the type a refined, premium rhythm (great for branding and packaging). In tight layouts, Rosemary benefits from minor tracking tweaks: for ALL CAPS, a small increase in tracking improves clarity; for bold headline stacks, slightly reduced tracking can tighten the silhouette without harming legibility. Overall density reads “luxury editorial” rather than “compact text,” which is why it shines on covers, invitations, labels, and logos.
Technically, Rosemary’s main advantage is its display-first structure: clean edges, confident serifs, and strong presence that reproduces well in print finishes like emboss/deboss, foil, and letterpress-style applications. The limitation is the same strength—because it’s a characterful serif, it’s not the most efficient choice for small body copy or low-resolution micro text, where a simpler text face will stay clearer. For best results, use Rosemary as a headline/brand voice: 32–96 px (web) or 24–72 pt (print) for titles and logos; 18–28 px / 14–18 pt for subheads. Keep line height around 1.2–1.35 for headings, and if you ever push it into short paragraphs, aim for 16–18 px+ with a slightly looser line height (1.45–1.6) and modest tracking to maintain breathing room.
