Hoc Opus
Font Details
Hoc Opus is a decorative display typeface designed by Michele Casanova, with letterforms based on scanned drawings from a collection from around 1850. It has an illuminated-manuscript character, using dark upright forms, curved stems, flared terminals, small dot details, and irregular internal counters. The shapes feel historical and ornamental rather than text-focused, so readability is strongest in short words, initials, headings, labels, posters, book covers, and themed titles. Its rhythm is fairly compact and vertical, with high contrast between solid black strokes and open white spaces. It is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
